About Travel Basketball

UpdatedTuesday March 26, 2019 byChris Slack.

The CBAA organization offers a competitive travel program to boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grades.  The travel basketball program is for those kids who are passionate about the game and want to continue furthering their basketball skills and knowledge.  The overall goal of our travel program is to offer these players:

  • The ability to play more competitive basketball games with a higher level of competition
  • Teach basic and advanced individual and team concepts in order to develop players for middle school and high school basketball
  • Teach kids how to communicate, play as a team, and consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship
  • Have a safe and non-threatening learning environment

CBAA typically fields at least 2 boys and 1 girls team at every age division.  We have open tryouts in the early Fall with coaches and independent evaluators present during tryouts. Parents are not allowed in the gym during tryouts.  After tryouts, coaches submit their rosters to the travel board for final approval. Please note that not all Payers who tryout are guaranteed roster spots.  Additional fees will be required for players who accept roster spots on our travel teams.

As a travel team member, a player can expect to practice twice a week from October through March with at least one game a week beginning in December.  Many of our travel coaches enter a second league or play in tournaments throughout the basketball season.

Our travel teams play in the Inter-County Basketball Association (“ICBA”), which includes teams from Bucks County, Montgomery County, Chester County, and Philadelphia County.  In order to be eligible to tryout and play in the ICBA league players must live in the Central Buck School District and meet grade and/or age requirements:
